Richa Ghosh’s Explosive Finish Powers India to Record Total

Indian wicketkeeper-batter Richa Ghosh once again proved her value to the women’s national team with a stunning performance against Sri Lanka. In the 4th T20 match held in Thiruvananthapuram, she played a match-winning innings that thrilled fans.

After a strong opening partnership between Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma, Richa walked in to finish the innings. She smashed an unbeaten 40 runs off just 16 balls, hitting four boundaries and three sixes. Her aggressive knock helped India post their highest-ever T20 total of 221 runs. India went on to win the match by 30 runs, taking a 4–0 lead in the five-match series.

Off the field, Richa spoke about how her life changed after India’s World Cup win earlier in 2025. She said the victory brought pride and happiness to the entire nation. One major change she noticed was the growing public recognition of women cricketers.

Richa shared that fans now recognize players like Deepti Sharma and Shafali Verma wherever they go. She believes this support has boosted the team’s confidence and is clearly visible in their recent performances. According to Richa, the respect and love from fans motivate the players to perform even better.

Personal Life, Early Struggles, and Career Focus

As her popularity grows, many fans have shown interest in Richa’s personal life. Questions about marriage often come her way, but the 22-year-old remains single and fully focused on her cricket career.

Richa started playing cricket at the age of four. Due to the lack of girls’ teams in her area, she trained with boys and worked hard to improve her skills. Her dedication paid off when Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) signed her for a high amount in the WPL. She was also appointed as an honorary Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) in West Bengal. For now, Richa is focused on cricket and aims to keep making her family and country proud.
