Friday, January 16

After a long three-year wait, Jujutsu Kaisen has finally returned. The anime officially premiered Season 3 on Thursday, January 8, 2026, bringing fans back into its dark and brutal world. Produced once again by Studio MAPPA, the new season adapts the highly anticipated Culling Game arc, which many consider the series’ most intense storyline so far.

To mark its comeback, the anime launched with a one-hour double-episode premiere. This ensured that viewers were immediately pulled into the action. The premiere also works as a smooth continuation of the Jujutsu Kaisen: Execution compilation film released in late 2025. As a result, fans across the world started Season 3 on the same page before the story dives into Yuji Itadori’s darkest chapter yet.

Where to Watch Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 in India

For Indian fans, Crunchyroll is the main platform streaming Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3. The first two episodes became available on January 8 at 10:30 PM IST. Currently, the episodes stream with English subtitles. However, dubbed versions are expected to arrive within two to three weeks.

Meanwhile, Netflix has also confirmed a simulcast for India and select Asian regions. That said, Netflix releases the episodes slightly later. New episodes are scheduled to drop every Friday starting January 9, usually a few hours after the Crunchyroll release. Because of this, fans who want to watch as early as possible may prefer Crunchyroll.

The Culling Game: A Deadly Fight for Survival

Season 3 begins in the bleak aftermath of the Shibuya Incident. The ancient sorcerer Kenjaku launches the Culling Game, a ruthless battle ritual spread across ten colonies in Japan. In this deadly setup, sorcerers and newly awakened humans must fight to survive.

Participants earn points through kills—five points for sorcerers and one for non-sorcerers. However, refusing to take part or failing to transfer points within 19 days leads to instant death. This happens through the removal of the player’s cursed technique.

At the same time, the season introduces several fan-favorite characters. These include Kinji Hakari, known for his dangerous gambling-based abilities, and Hiromi Higuruma, a former lawyer turned sorcerer. Most importantly, Season 3 marks the long-awaited return of Yuta Okkotsu, whose mission places him on a collision course with Yuji Itadori.

Episode Count and Release Schedule

Although MAPPA has not officially confirmed the total episode count, industry reports suggest that Season 3 will run for 24 to 26 episodes. The season is expected to be split into two cours.

The first cour, titled “The Culling Game Part 1,” follows a weekly Thursday release on Crunchyroll. After the double premiere, Episode 3 will release on January 15. Meanwhile, the mid-season finale, likely Episode 13, is expected around March 26, 2026.

Direction remains in the hands of Shota Goshozono, ensuring visual consistency with previous seasons. In addition, popular band King Gnu returns with the opening theme song “AIZO,” setting the tone for another intense and high-energy season.

Why Season 3 Is a Turning Point

With its darker themes, new characters, and unforgiving rules, Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 raises the stakes like never before. The Culling Game is not just a battle arc—it is a test of survival, morality, and evolution. If the premiere is any indication, this season could redefine the series for years to come.
