Actress Kalyani Priyadarshan has publicly acclaimed the film Kaantha, describing its lead actor Dulquer Salmaan’s performance as possibly her favourite in his career to date. Her remarks were shared via an Instagram Story, where she said she “went in knowing almost nothing and came out moved.
In her note, Kalyani also highlighted Dulquer’s strong Tamil-language connection, citing his Chennai upbringing and the fact that his onscreen delivery in Tamil impressed her. She wrote: “I know how much he loves the language and how deep that connection runs.”

Beyond complimenting Dulquer, she extended her praise to co-stars Samuthirakani and Bhagyashri Borse, as well as to veteran actor Rana Daggubati and the film’s entire crew including director Selvamani Selvaraj and composer Jakes Bejoy. She said the team had “poured their heart into the film.”
According to trade details, Kaantha opened strongly with an estimated ₹4 crore on its first day, signaling a promising box-office trajectory. The film is set in the 1950s Madras film industry and explores themes of rivalry, redemption and legacy as Dulquer’s character tussles with a former mentor.
With such endorsements from a peer actress and strong initial performance, Kaantha appears poised to further gain traction among critics and audiences alike.
